The Glusac group, which holds joint appointments at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) is looking for a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in either molecular/supramolecular synthesis or homogeneous/heterogeneous electrocatalysis. The postdoc will be involved in electrocatalytic transformations, such as electrochemical hydrogenation/dehydrogenation of liquid organic hydrogen carriers, epoxidation of alkenes and reduction of carbon dioxide. These projects are motivated by renewable energy conversion processes to generate fuels and industrially relevant chemicals. The research is highly interdisciplinary, and the postdoc is expected to work with collaborators from UIC, ANL and other partner institutions. In addition to synthetic or electrochemistry expertise, the postdoctoral applicant is expected to have strong managerial and communication skills.
The anticipated start date for the position is Dec 1, 2024. UIC and ANL are in the Chicago area, within a driving distance of each other (~20 miles). Interested candidates should email their cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references to Prof. Ksenija Glusac using the following email: glusac.group.postdoc.search@gmail.com.
Duties: The postdoc will be expected to synthesize molecular nanosheets for electrocatalytic transformations and utilize electrochemical methods to evaluate their electrocatalytic performance and investigate catalytic mechanisms. In addition, the postdoc is expected to analyze, interpret, present, and publish their research results, as well as mentor graduate and undergraduate students and collaborate with other team members in the project.
Qualifications: Must have a PhD/Doctorate Degree in chemistry or electrochemistry.
Post closing date: Nov 01, 2024.
Salary: $60 K/year
